I want to introduce you to the love my life. This is William Barr. He was born and raised in Texas. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served for 7 years, spending a year in Iraq as a Unit Supply Specialist 92Y series.
How we met
How we met is a little bit of a complex story. We started talking online, just a chat here and there, but had never actually met. Once we started talking about ourselves, we learned that we actually attended the same college and had never run into each other before. It’s a small place, so that was pretty surprising. After that, we decided to meet up and actually talk. I don’t know if it was love at first sight, but I was love in the first few months. I know that doesn’t sound as romantic, but it’s realistic.
Our first year
We spent most of our time together on campus. I was studying English and Writing, and him Life Sciences. We were very opposite in our studies, but you know what they say about opposites. Our lives were busy. I had an on campus job plus a job in the evenings. And to make thing really difficult, he worked nights four times a week. Icky. we spent most of our time together on the weekends when he wasn’t working. Our favorite activities were the same we still do now: Netflix and go to stores but don’t buy anything.
Come 2016, we were stronger than ever. We started our senior years of college. I quit my evening job and he quit his all together. While this was a confusing and difficult time for him, he was able to pick up a quaint job working at the on campus post office. He loved it. It was easy to do homework while working.
We liked to talk about moving in together. At the time, it was just not doable. He was making enough money to cover his bills. I had just moved back in with my parents because I hardly made any money. I would see him passing by, during lunch, and every Wednesday I would go to his place for dinner.
Pause. Speaking of food.
I don’t cook. I can make cereal, sandwiches, and if I try hard enough, I might do Mac n’ Cheese. But this is unlikely. But William. can. cook. Like, really cook. He spoils me. Here is a picture of homemade chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and steamed broccoli that he made. There is a saying that the way to a man’s heart, is through his stomach. This also goes for most women. Here is his shrimp alfredo and onion soup. The rats also enjoy his cooking on occasion.
Come May 2017, we walked the stage together, both being handed our Bachelor’s degrees. It was an exciting day for the both of us. One major thing that happened that day was my parents (love them) surprised me with a car. This was a big deal because it meant I would be able to get to work on my own and possibly move out.
Moving in together was still on our minds, but it was a lengthy process. It took a year to find a place to move into.
We now live together in a small one bedroom apartment. We love our home. He cooks dinners in the kitchen while I write at the table. We have a big projector screen and we enjoy watching Star Trek on it. Just 2 days after move in day, we celebrated our 3 year anniversary. It’s crazy to think that we are already half way through that year. I hope we have many more to come.
Love you, Babe!
I know we will have many more adventures to come.
